The Ford S-MAX CD539 of 2015 to 2023 was the second-generation S-MAX. It was intended as a more premium, more refined car that moved the sports MPV concept upmarket with improved interior quality, the Vignale luxury specification, and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive on higher trims. The CD539 retained the chassis dynamics that made the original exceptional while adding the technology and comfort that modern family buyers demand.

The Car

The CD539 used 1.5 and 2.0 EcoBoost petrols and 2.0 TDCi diesels in 120, 150, 180, and 210bhp forms. The Vignale specification brought quilted leather, a panoramic roof, and premium cabin materials. Intelligent AWD was available with the 180 and 210bhp diesels. The rear seats maintained the fold-flat seven-seat arrangement. Active Park Assist and Pre-Collision Assist with pedestrian detection were available.

Buying

The 2.0 TDCi 180 AWD Titanium is the most capable specification. The Vignale for buyers who want luxury.
