The Mondeo Mk II of 2000 to 2007 improved the MkI’s formula with better interior quality, improved safety, and the ST220. This was powered by a 3.0-litre V6 Duratec producing 226bhp, gained unique 18-inch alloys and Recaro seats. It was the fastest front-wheel-drive Ford saloon of its era. Aside from the ‘Fast Ford’ ST, the MkII was the Mondeo that fleet managers loved and company car drivers tolerated; competent, comfortable, and relentlessly sensible.

The Car

The Mk II used Duratec engines from 1.8 to 3.0-litres and TDCi diesels from 2.0 to 2.2-litres. The Titanium X specification brought leather and the most comprehensive equipment. The estate was the practical family choice and the company car mainstay.

Buying

The ST220 is the performance specification and values are currently rising as an overlooked performance Ford. The 2.0 TDCi is the economy fleet choice.
