Ford Focus Generation / Variant Price Guides
The Ford Focus replaced the Escort in 1998 and immediately redefined the family hatchback class. It was a car whose multi-link rear suspension, direct steering, and exceptional body control were so far ahead of every competitor that the motoring press effectively recalibrated its expectations for the segment. Four generations have maintained the Focus’s position as the benchmark driver’s family car. The RS variants (from 215bhp in Mk 1 to 350bhp with all-wheel drive in Mk 3) are the definitive hot hatches of their respective eras.
The Generations
The C170 (1998–2004) established the benchmark. The C307 (2004–2010) refined it. The C346 (2011–2018) moved upmarket. The C519 (2019–2025) is the final and most technologically sophisticated. Each is covered individually.
Buying
The Mk 1 RS is the collector’s Focus. The Mk 3 RS the performance benchmark. Standard 1.0 EcoBoost cars in any generation are the practical daily.
