The Fiesta Mk 6 was sold from 2008 to 2017. It was the Fiesta that became a global car and broke free of its UK-centric past. Designed under Martin Smith with kinetic styling, it was sold in over 100 markets worldwide and established the Fiesta as the best-driving supermini on the planet. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost three-cylinder won the International Engine of the Year award three consecutive times. The ST with its 182bhp 1.6 EcoBoost became the definitive affordable hot hatch of the 2010s.
The Car
The Mk 6 used the 1.0 EcoBoost three-cylinder (100 and 125bhp), 1.25 and 1.6 Duratec, and 1.4 and 1.5 TDCi diesels. The ST used the 1.6 EcoBoost turbo at 182bhp (later 200bhp in ST200 form) with a Quaife limited-slip differential, launch control, and Recaro seats. The 1.0 EcoBoost established the three-cylinder turbo as a credible mainstream powertrain for the first time. The Black Edition, Red Edition, and White Edition offered 140bhp from the 1.0 EcoBoost.
Buying
The ST is the outstanding specification; the best hot hatch of its era. The 1.0 EcoBoost 125 is the sensible daily. Check EcoBoost coolant hoses and thermostat housing for leaks on higher-mileage cars.
