Ford Escort Generation / Variant Price Guides
The Ford Escort ran for thirty-four years across six generations, from the rear-wheel-drive Mk I that dominated European rallying in the 1970s through to the front-wheel-drive Mk 6 that served as dependable transport for millions of British families. The Escort is the most commercially successful British Ford nameplate: over four million were sold in the UK alone.
The Generations
Six generations cover 1968 to 2002: the rear-wheel-drive Mk I (1968–1975) and Mk II (1975–1980); the front-wheel-drive Mk III (1980–1986), Mk IV (1986–1990), Mk V (1990–1995), and Mk VI (1995–2002). The Focus replaced the Escort name from 1998.
Buying
The Mk I and Mk II RS and Mexico variants are the classic collector’s Escorts, while the 90s Cosworth is the modern performance legend.
