Ford Bronco Price Guide

typical price 7 October, 2026
The Ford Bronco is one of the great American off-road nameplates; a body-on-frame SUV that ran from 1966 to 1996 across five generations before Ford retired the name, then returned in 2021 as one of the most successful automotive revivals in recent history.
The original 1966 Bronco was a compact, utilitarian 4×4 that competed with the International Harvester Scout and the Jeep CJ; by the time the fifth generation ended in 1996, the Bronco had grown into a full-sized SUV sharing its body with the F-150 pickup. The sixth-generation revival of 2021 returned to the original’s compact proportions and uncompromising off-road focus, targeting the Jeep Wrangler directly with removable doors, a fold-flat windscreen, and a choice of solid rear axle or independent rear suspension depending on intended use.
The Generations
The first-generation Bronco of 1966 to 1977 used a short-wheelbase body-on-frame chassis with Ford’s 170ci six-cylinder and later the 289ci and 302ci V8 engines. The early Bronco is among the most collectible American 4×4 vehicles. Values for uncut, unmodified examples have risen dramatically. The second generation of 1978 to 1979 moved to the full-sized F-Series platform, growing substantially. The third, fourth, and fifth generations (1980–1996) continued on the F-Series platform with progressively more civilised interiors and equipment, competing directly with the Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Jimmy. The white 1993 Bronco became globally famous during the O.J. Simpson pursuit in 1994, an event that simultaneously damaged and immortalised the nameplate.
The Revival
The sixth-generation Bronco of 2021 is an entirely new vehicle that deliberately returns to the first generation’s compact proportions and off-road commitment. The 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder and 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 provide the power; the available seven-speed manual gearbox with a crawler gear is unique in the class. The Badlands, Wildtrak, and Raptor specifications offer progressively more extreme off-road capability. The Raptor uses the 3.0-litre EcoBoost V6 at 418bhp with Fox Live Valve suspension and 37-inch tyres. Two-door and four-door body styles are both available, with removable roof panels and doors that store in purpose-designed bags.
Buying
The first-generation early Bronco (1966–1977) is a serious collector’s vehicle, unmodified examples with the V8 command substantial premiums and values have been rising for two decades. The full-sized third-to-fifth-generation Broncos (1980–1996) are affordable, practical classic American SUVs with comprehensive parts support. The sixth-generation revival is primarily a US-market vehicle; UK buyers require specialist RHD conversion or direct import, though a small but growing UK market has emerged through conversion specialists. The 2.7 EcoBoost V6 is the performance engine in the current car; the Raptor the off-road pinnacle.
