The Fiat 500L of 2012 was the MPV version of the 500 family. It is a much larger car than the 500 hatchback, using the 500’s design language in a tall, five-door MPV body that provided genuine family space under the familiar styling. The 500L is a practical family car wearing a fashionable name, available as standard MPV, 500L Trekking, and the seven-seat 500L Living.
The Car
The 500L used 0.9 TwinAir, 1.4 petrol, and 1.3 or 1.6 Multijet diesel engines. The Trekking added raised suspension and body cladding for SUV appearance. The Living provided a third row of seats, making it the most practical 500L at the cost of further style compromise. The 1.6 Multijet is the most refined powertrain.
Buying
The 1.6 Multijet is the sensible specification. The TwinAir engines’ vibration is more noticeable in the larger 500L than in the 500.
