The Fiat 2300 of 1961 to 1968 was Fiat’s executive saloon. It was powered by a 2,279cc six-cylinder and available as a four-door saloon and the elegant 2300S Coupé by Ghia. The coupé, with its long bonnet and fastback roofline, was a significant Italian GT of the early 1960s that competed with the Lancia Flaminia Coupé and the Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint.

The Car

The six-cylinder produced around 105bhp in the standard car and 136bhp in the S Coupé specification. Ghia’s body for the coupé was one of the studio’s finest works of the period. The 2300S won its class at multiple Italian rallies. Around 10,000 coupés were produced.

Buying

The 2300S Coupé by Ghia is the collector’s car from this family. Standard saloons are more affordable, although far from commonplace to find in the UK.
