Make Fiat

132 (1974–1978)

The Fiat 132 of 1972 was the upmarket companion to the 131. It was a slightly larger saloon with 1.6 and 1.8-litre engines available, targeting the Alfa Romeo Giulia’s market. The 132 used disc brakes all round and a twin-cam engine in a conventional rear-wheel-drive saloon body. It was a competent but undistinguished car that never achieved the character of the Alfa it competed against.

Buying

The 132 is an affordable and practical Italian classic saloon. The 1.8-litre is the recommended engine. Rust is significant.
