The Ferrari Purosangue is the car that Ferrari said for decades it would never make — a four-door, four-seat, all-wheel-drive vehicle that Ferrari insists is not an SUV because it sits lower and has different proportions. Whether it is or isn’t is a semantic discussion; what is not in question is that it uses a naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 producing 725bhp in a body with rear-hinged rear doors, and that it is the most practical Ferrari ever produced.
The Car
The Purosangue uses the 6,496cc V12 from the 812 in a detuned 725bhp form with a transaxle layout — gearbox at the rear for weight distribution. The rear-hinged rear doors (sometimes called ‘suicide doors’) allow easy access to the full-size rear seats. All-wheel drive with a rear-biased torque split. Active suspension with 48V electronic anti-roll bars. Four individual seats rather than a rear bench. Ferrari has stated that the Purosangue will not exceed 20% of their annual production volume.
Buying
Current production with waiting lists at launch. The Purosangue is priced around £300,000. The naturally-aspirated V12 in a four-door body is its unique proposition. Ferrari
