The LaFerrari is the hybrid hypercar that Ferrari produced from 2013 to 2015 in response to the Porsche 918 and McLaren P1. Ferrari cooked up 963bhp from a naturally-aspirated 6.3-litre V12 combined with a 163bhp electric motor derived from Ferrari’s Formula 1 KERS technology. The car was developed with Michael Schumacher during his time with the Ferrari F1 team. Just 499 coupes and 210 Aperta open versions were produced.

The Car

The 6,262cc naturally-aspirated V12 produced 800bhp at 9,250rpm; the KERS electric motor added 163bhp for 963bhp total. The car was sold only to existing Ferrari customers of sufficient standing, purchasing one brand new required an invitation. The HY-KERS system charged the battery through regenerative braking and charged at full throttle when the V12 produced more torque than the tyres could use. 0–62mph in under 3 seconds. A LaFerrari Aperta was produced in 210 examples for the 70th anniversary.

Buying

The LaFerrari is an investment of the highest order. Ferrari provenance documentation is essential at this level.
