The Ferrari 330 family covered the mid-1960s period when Ferrari was expanding its product range to include proper long-wheelbase gran turismos capable of sustained high-speed Continental touring. The 330 GT 2+2 was the practical four-seater; the 330 GTC coupe the elegant two-seater; the 330 GTS the open spider. A 4.0-litre version of the Colombo V12 producing around 300bhp united the family.

The Cars

The 330 GT 2+2 of 1964–1967 used a 3,967cc V12 in a Pininfarina body with genuine rear seat accommodation. It was the first Ferrari which could be regularly used as a family car. The 330 GTC of 1966–1968 is the critical model: a shorter, lighter, more driver-focused coupe that many consider the finest balanced Ferrari road car of the 1960s. The 330 GTS spider of 1966–1968 used the same mechanicals in open form. The 330 P racing series ran alongside in competition.

Buying

The 330 GTC is the connoisseur’s 1960s Ferrari. Far less celebrated than the 250 or 275 but a more complete road car and accordingly more accessible in relative terms. Ferrari Classiche authentication is essential. The Ferrari 330 family represents significant value relative to the 250 and 275 for buyers who prioritise the driving experience over the name recognition of those more celebrated predecessors.
