-
typical price 7 October, 2026
The first-generation Ram 1500 of 1981 to 1993 was the conventional American pickup that preceded the dramatic 1994 redesign. This was a straightforward body-on-frame work truck with the 318ci and 360ci V8 engines that would remain in the Ram range for decades.
The Car
The first-generation Ram used conventional styling that tracked American pickup design of the era; flush cab, modest proportions, and the practical considerations of a work vehicle. The 5.2-litre 318ci and 5.9-litre 360ci V8 engines were the core powertrains. Regular cab and Club Cab configurations. These are practical, affordable classic American trucks valued for their simplicity and durability rather than collector significance.
Buying
Rust in the chassis, cab floor, and bed are the primary concerns. The Mopar V8 engines are simple and well-supported.
