Dax Price Guide

Dax operates firmly within the British kit car world, and understanding that context is essential to valuing any Dax correctly. These are not mainstream cars and they do not trade through conventional dealer channels. The market is made up of enthusiasts who know exactly what they want, and values are driven almost entirely by build quality, engine specification, and condition rather than age or mileage in the conventional sense.

What Affects Dax Values

Build quality is the single most important variable across the entire Dax range. Because these are kit cars, the standard of assembly varies enormously – a professionally finished example with quality paint, sound electrical work, and a well-sorted drivetrain is worth significantly more than a poorly assembled car regardless of the components used. The engine choice has a major effect on value: V8-powered Cobra replicas command the strongest prices, and Rush variants with Cosworth or high-specification engines are sought after. Any car with Single Vehicle Approval documentation and a clear history of correct construction is easier to sell and typically achieves better prices.

427 Cobra Replica

The Dax 427 Tojeiro is among the most respected British Cobra replicas. Named in part after John Tojeiro who designed the original AC Ace, it uses a tubular steel chassis with fibreglass bodywork and accommodates a wide range of engines from Jaguar and Rover V8s through to big-block American V8s. Well-built examples with powerful engines and quality finishing achieve strong prices in the kit car market, and the best examples compete favourably with other respected Cobra replicas. The De Dion rear suspension option is preferred by buyers who want the best handling.

Rush

The Rush is Dax’s take on the lightweight open sports car formula pioneered by Lotus and followed by Caterham and Westfield. It is a more spacious car than the Seven-derived alternatives and accommodates a wide range of powertrains, from modest Ford units through to turbocharged Cosworth four-wheel-drive configurations. The four-wheel-drive Quadra Rush with a Sierra Cosworth drivetrain is the most dramatic and sought-after variant – a genuinely rapid machine that offers performance well beyond its modest appearance. Values across the Rush range are modest compared to Caterham equivalents, but the best-built examples offer similar performance at lower cost.
