Daimler Double Six Series II (1973–1979) Price Guide
-
typical price 14 October, 2026
The Daimler Double Six Series II, produced from 1973 to 1979, brought the V12 into the revised higher-roofline XJ body with improved interior quality and the additional rear headroom that the Series I lacked. The Series II Double Six is the most common V12 Daimler from this era.
The Car
The Series II used the same 5,343cc V12 in the taller Series II body. A long-wheelbase option provided additional rear legroom. The Daimler specification added individual rear seats, enhanced carpets, and the fluted grille that distinguished it from the Jaguar XJ12. The V12’s fuel consumption was substantial – this is fundamentally not a car for those concerned about running costs!
Buying
Cooling system integrity is the V12’s critical maintenance point as an overheated V12 warps the block between the two cylinder banks. Overheating is catastrophic and difficult to repair. Check that the cooling system has been maintained meticulously.
