The Citroën Visa was the successor to the LNA in the supermini class. It was a practical five-door hatchback with conventional suspension and powered by the TU engine family. The GT and GTi variants offered genuine performance in a practical package. The Visa Mille Pistes four-wheel-drive is one of the rarest Citroëns produced.
The Car
Produced from 1978 to 1988, the Visa used 652cc to 1,360cc engines across a range that covered economy models through the 115bhp GTi. The Visa Mille Pistes used four-wheel drive with a Dangel conversion to create a cross-country variant. The GT and GTi share many components with the later AX performance models. The Visa Club estate variant was particularly practical.
Buying
The GTi is the performance Visa. The Mille Pistes is the collector’s rarity. Standard Visas are cheap and practical. Rust affects lower body and sills. The TU engine is inexpensive to maintain.
