The Citroën LN was the entry-level Citroën of the late 1970s. It was a rebadged Peugeot 104 with Citroën 2CV engine options, an unusual cross-pollination created by the Peugeot-Citroën merger. It was the first PSA badge-engineering exercise and was not entirely successful with the Citroën fan base finding the conventional Peugeot body at odds with the marque’s traditions.
The Car
The LN used the Peugeot 104’s body and suspension with the 2CV’s 652cc flat-twin engine, an incongruous combination that produced a car of modest ability. The LNA that followed from 1976 used the Peugeot 104 engine and addressed most of the LN’s shortcomings. Together the LN and LNA bridged the gap between the 2CV era and the AX. These are cars of historical curiosity rather than collector significance.
Buying
The LN is an affordable and unusual piece of PSA merger history. Parts share with Peugeot 104 aids availability.
