The Citroën B2 of 1920–1927 developed the Type A formula with more power, better equipment. Provided in a range of body styles that included the 5CV; the small, lightweight derivative that became a phenomenon in its own right. The B2 established Citroën as France’s largest car manufacturer.
The Car
The B2 used an enlarged 1,452cc four-cylinder producing 20bhp. The body range expanded significantly: torpedo, coupé, berline, cabriolet, and the C-type 5CV derivative. The B2 was sold in the UK through a British assembly facility from 1923. André Citroën used two Citroën half-tracks (derived from the B2) to complete the first motorised crossing of the Sahara in December 1922.
Buying
B2 survivors are rare and historically significant. The Citroën marque’s early cars are supported by the Citroën Car Club and French specialist organisations.
