The 1967–1970 DeVille represented Cadillac at its most restrained and most elegant. Neither quality is something usually associated with the marque perhaps, but these cars offer full-sized luxury with genuinely good proportions. The style has arguably aged better than almost any American car of the period. The 1967 body style is the one that most European buyers with a taste for American cars find themselves drawn to.

The Car

The 1967 Cadillac used an entirely new body with a longer wheelbase, cleaner surfacing, and the new 472 cubic inch (7,734cc) V8 producing 340bhp. The Coupe de Ville two-door featured a long, uninterrupted roofline of genuine elegance. The convertible of 1969 and 1970 is among the most desirable post-war Cadillacs available to buyers of finite means. The 1969 and 1970 models added the 472’s replacement: the massive 500 cubic inch (8,194cc) engine producing 375bhp.

Buying

The 1969–1970 convertible is the peak collector’s car of this generation. The 1967 Coupe de Ville hardtop is the understated elegant choice. These cars have been appreciating for a decade. Rust around the lower body and hidden pockets in the rear quarters are the primary structural concerns.
