The BMW M8, produced from 2019 to 2023, is the most powerful BMW ever offered to the public in standard production form. This big bruiser used the S63 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 in 600bhp Competition form and was available as a coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe four-door fastback.

The Car

The S63B44T4 produced 600bhp and 750Nm in Competition specification. xDrive all-wheel drive was standard on all variants. An eight-speed M Steptronic automatic was the only transmission, no manual was ever offered. The coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe all used the same G15 platform and running gear.

The M8 GTE racing car won the GTE Pro class at Le Mans in 2018 and 2019, providing motorsport heritage to a nameplate previously associated only with the E31.

Buying

The Competition is the only specification worth considering given the minimal price premium over the standard car on the used market. The Gran Coupe offers the most practical M8 experience. Substantial depreciation from new prices of around £130,000 makes the M8 exceptional used value for its performance level.

The BMW S63 requires attentive servicing; oil changes and cooling system maintenance are the priorities.
