BMW M4 Generation / Variant Price Guides
The BMW M4 replaced the M3 coupe designation in 2014, when BMW separated the coupe and saloon into distinct model families. The M4 is the coupe and convertible; the M3 the saloon. Two generations have shared engines, platforms, and the same essential debate: is the turbocharged straight-six a worthy successor to the V8 the M3 used before it?
The Range
The F82/F83 M4 ran from 2014 to 2020 with the S55 twin-turbo at 431 and 444bhp. The G82/G83 launched in 2020 with the S58 at 480 and 510bhp. Both offer coupe and convertible body styles. The M2 takes the compact coupe concept further in the smaller platform. GTS and CS homologation specials accompanied the F82.
Buying
The manual gearbox is the specification that best expresses the M4’s character. Both generations are well-supported. The F82 GTS is the collector’s car; the G82 Competition the current benchmark.
