The BMW iX1 is the fully electric variant of the X1 U11. It shares the compact SUV’s body and interior while replacing the combustion drivetrain with a 64.7kWh battery and twin electric motors for 313bhp and xDrive all-wheel drive.

The Car

Launched in 2023, the iX1 xDrive30 uses front and rear electric motors producing 313bhp and 494Nm. WLTP range is up to 272 miles. DC charging at up to 130kW adds 60 miles in around 10 minutes. The interior is identical to the combustion X1 U11; the same curved display, the same iDrive 9 software, and the same space. The electric drivetrain adds approximately 200kg over the equivalent petrol X1.

Buying

The iX1 suits buyers who charge at home regularly and use the car primarily for urban and suburban journeys. The 272-mile range is adequate for most daily use but tight on longer motorway runs.
