BMW 6 Series Generation / Variant Price Guides
The BMW 6 Series has occupied three distinct chapters in the company’s history: the E24 coupe of the 1970s and 1980s, a generation-long absence during which the 8 Series tried to fill the space, and the return in 2003 with the E63 and F12 generations. Each time, the 6 Series has been BMW’s statement of intent for a large, fast, elegant grand tourer with a straight-six or V8 under the long bonnet.
The Range
The E24 ran from 1976 to 1989 with straight-six and V12 engines. The E63/E64 returned in 2003 with V8 and V10 power. The F12/F13/F06 ran from 2011 to 2018, including the Gran Coupe four-door fastback.
Buying
The E24 is the classic GT. The E63/E64 is the modern performance choice. The F12 Gran Coupe is the practical daily driver. Each generation is covered in detail.
