The G60 5 Series, launched in 2024, is the most technically ambitious 5 Series yet. It presents a fully electric i5 alongside the conventional combustion engines, a 48V mild-hybrid across the range, and a curved display interior that brings the 5 Series firmly into BMW’s current digital design language.

The Car

The G60 uses B48 four-cylinders and B57/B58 six-cylinders in 520i through 550e plug-in hybrid form, alongside the fully electric i5. The G61 touring continues the practical estate tradition. There is also a G68 LWB but that was produced exclusively for the Far-East markets.

Buying

Current production. Too recent for meaningful reliability data beyond the well-proven B-series engines. The BMW G60 represents the 5 Series at its most technologically sophisticated, with the electric i5 offering a compelling zero-emission alternative for urban operators.
