Bentley T Series Generation / Variant Price Guides
The Bentley T Series was a genuinely new car and was the first Bentley with unit construction and independent rear suspension, ending a tradition of separate chassis that stretched back to the 1920s. Under its conventional appearance lay engineering that was thoroughly modern for 1965, and that would underpin Bentley saloons for over two decades.
The Range
Two generations covered 1965 to 1980. The T1 from 1965 to 1977 used the 6,230cc V8 in a new unitary body developed with Pressed Steel. The T2 from 1977 to 1980 brought a revised front end with rubber bumpers, revised suspension, and rack-and-pinion steering. Both generations are mechanically closely related and share most running gear. The T Series shares its platform with the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow of the same era; an important fact for parts sourcing.
Buying
The T Series is undervalued relative to the S-Series cars that preceded it and the Mulsanne that followed. The engineering is more sophisticated and the car more capable, but the styling lacks the S-Series’s elegance. Rust is a concern on the unitary body so inspect the sills and floor carefully. Bentley‘s heritage support and the extensive Silver Shadow parts network make the T Series well-supported.
