Bentley Eight Price Guide

The Bentley Eight was deliberately positioned as the most affordable Bentley ever offered. It was a reaction to Bentley purists who resented having to buy a Rolls-Royce with a different grille. It stripped the standard Mulsanne of some equipment and lowered the price, succeeding in its goal of broadening the customer base without compromising Bentley’s essential character.

The Car

Produced from 1984 to 1992, the Eight used the naturally aspirated 6,750cc V8 in the standard Mulsanne body with a simplified specification; plainer seats, a mesh grille rather than the vaned Bentley grille, and reduced standard equipment. Despite the cost reduction, the Eight retained all of Bentley’s core mechanical quality. Around 1,700 were built. The Eight was the first Bentley since the 1930s specifically positioned on price rather than exclusivity.

Buying

The Eight offers the same fundamental Bentley experience as the contemporary Mulsanne at lower prices. The reduced specification matters less with age than the mechanical quality that was identical. Rust and hydraulic system maintenance apply equally.
