The Audi SQ2, produced from 2018 to 2023, was the performance version of Audi’s smallest SUV. A 300bhp 2.0 TFSI in the Q2 body with quattro all-wheel drive. It offered hot hatch performance in a compact SUV package, filling a niche between the standard Q2 and the more expensive RS Q3.
The Car
The SQ2 used the EA888 Gen 3 2.0 TFSI producing 300bhp with a seven-speed S tronic and quattro, all resulting in a 0–62mph being dispatched in 4.8 seconds. The SQ2 shared its engine with the S3 8V but in a higher, heavier body. Available only in the standard Q2 body (no Sportback variant). Sport-specific exterior styling, 19-inch alloys, and S-specific interior touches throughout.
Buying
The SQ2 is a focused, entertaining compact SUV that has depreciated substantially. The EA888 engine is reliable and well-supported. DSG fluid changes are important maintenance. The Audi SQ2 was discontinued without a direct replacement as the Q2 range consolidated, making surviving examples rarer and modestly more collectible than when new.
