-
typical price 7 October, 2026
The current D5 S8, launched in 2019, uses the 4.0 TFSI in 571bhp form with a 48V mild-hybrid system that can add up to 12kW in short bursts. It is the most sophisticated S8 yet; active suspension, rear-wheel steering, and active noise cancellation alongside the twin-turbo V8.
The Car
The D5 S8 uses the EA825 4.0 TFSI producing 571bhp with mild-hybrid boost capability. Predictive active suspension reads the road ahead to pre-configure damper rates. Rear-wheel steering improves manoeuvrability at low speeds and stability at high speeds. 0–62mph in 3.8 seconds. The S8 shares the D5 A8’s aluminium and carbon fibre composite structure.
Buying
Substantial depreciation from six-figure new prices makes the D5 S8 exceptional used value. The complex active systems require specialist inspection. The Audi D5 S8 competes with the BMW M760e and Mercedes-AMG S63. It is the most understated of the three and the most technologically sophisticated. Values are firming as the model matures.
