The data above is based on information retrieved from actual, real-world Audi S5 sales listings. Our AI agents try to correct obvious mistakes sellers make, such as incorrect engine capacities, but some may still fall through.
The B8 S5, produced from 2007 to 2016, launched with a naturally aspirated 4.2-litre V8 before switching to a supercharged 3.0 TFSI V6 in 2011. A change that improved torque and efficiency at the cost of the V8’s acoustic character. Both are desirable in different ways.
The Car
The original B8 V8 produced 354bhp from the same basic 4,163cc engine as the RS4, detuned for broader usability. A six-speed manual or seven-speed S tronic. The 2011 switch to a 3.0 TFSI supercharger produced 333bhp with significantly more low-end torque. A 3.0 TDI diesel joined later. All quattro. Coupé, Sportback, and Cabriolet body styles.
Buying
The V8 Coupé in manual specification is the purist’s S5; scarce, rising in value, and aurally rewarding. The supercharged 3.0 TFSI is the more rounded daily driver. The Audi V8 timing chain concern applies here too, though the B8 S5 V8 is slightly less maintenance-intensive than the RS4/RS5 versions at lower outputs.
