Audi S4 B7 (2005–2008) Price Guide

The B7 S4, produced from 2005 to 2008, continued with the 4.2-litre V8 in revised form. Marginally more power, better software, and the last naturally aspirated S4 before supercharging arrived. The B7 is the purist’s choice for the V8 generation.

The Car

The B7 V8 produced 344bhp (the same headline figure as the B6) but with improved torque delivery across the rev range through revised engine management. Six-speed manual or six-speed Tiptronic. The RS4-derived V8 makes the B7 S4 one of the finest-sounding S4s ever built. Saloon and Avant body styles; the Cabriolet S4 used the same V8. The B7 platform introduced the magnetic ride adaptive dampers as an option.

Buying

The B7 S4 Avant with the manual gearbox is a legitimate modern classic. Timing chain tensioners remain the critical maintenance concern; check documented service history carefully. The Audi Cabriolet S4 V8 is rare and undervalued. The RS4 B7 uses the same platform with 420bhp and is the better car to drive but considerably more expensive to buy and maintain.
