Audi S3 Generation / Variant Price Guides
The Audi S3 is the sweet spot of the Audi performance compact range. More power and all-wheel drive over the standard A3, without the track-focused intensity of the RS3. In every generation it has delivered the right combination of pace, practicality, and daily usability to make it one of the most sensible performance car purchases in its class.
The Range
Four generations from 8L to the current 8Y have consistently used a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo with quattro all-wheel drive. Power has risen from 210bhp in the 8L to 333bhp in the current car. The S3 has always offered the quattro system with a torque-vectoring rear differential on more recent generations, which makes it feel more rear-biased than front-wheel-drive rivals despite the AWD layout.
Buying
Every generation of S3 is a sound buy. The 8L is the most affordable and the most analogue; the 8P is the sweet spot for most buyers; the 8V and 8Y offer progressively more technology. All hold their value well relative to standard A3s.
