The C8 RS6, launched in 2020, is the most sophisticated RS6 produced to date. With 600bhp, a 48V mild-hybrid system that can recover up to 12kW under braking, air suspension, and active rear-wheel steering on some specifications. It is also the most understated, wearing its abilities behind a face that is barely distinguishable from the standard A6 Avant.
The Car
The C8 uses the EA825 4.0 TFSI producing 600bhp with mild-hybrid assistance, eight-speed torque converter automatic, and quattro with sport differential. Standard air suspension provides ride height adjustment and adaptive damping. The RS6 Performance variant adds 30bhp for 630bhp and revised aerodynamics. 0–62mph in 3.6 seconds. Available as Avant only in major markets.
Buying
The C8 RS6 is current production with firm residuals. The Performance variant is the definitive specification. The Audi 48V mild-hybrid system adds complexity; check all systems during inspection. Air suspension leaks are possible on higher-mileage examples. The C8 RS6 competes directly with the BMW M5 Touring and Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate. It is less driver-focused than the BMW, more restrained than the Mercedes, and more practical than both.
