Audi R8 Generation / Variant Price Guides
The Audi R8 is the only mid-engined supercar Audi has ever produced and, for many, the finest car to wear the four-ring badge. A naturally aspirated V8 or V10 mounted behind the driver, all-wheel drive as standard, and a chassis balance that makes it one of the most accessible supercars ever built and all at prices that have depreciated to a fraction of the original cost.
The Range
Two generations cover 2007 to 2023. The Type 42 original used 4.2 V8 and 5.2 V10 engines; the Type 4S added more power, improved aerodynamics, and a rear-wheel-drive variant. Both were available as Coupé and Spyder. The V10 is the definitive specification in both generations. The R8 was discontinued in 2023 without a combustion replacement. Is this the most significant recent loss to the sports car world?
Buying
The R8 is one of the best sports car bargains available. Depreciation has been steep and a used R8 V10 costs a fraction of a new Ferrari or Lamborghini with comparable performance. Service costs are Lamborghini-level; budget honestly.
