Audi A8 Generation / Variant Price Guides

The Audi A8 is Audi’s flagship. The car that has consistently pushed the boundaries of what aluminium construction, all-wheel drive, and driver assistance technology can achieve in a large luxury saloon. It has never been the most dynamically engaging car in its class, but it has often been the best-built, most technologically advanced, and most quietly impressive.

The Range

Four generations from D2 to D5 cover 1994 to the present. The all-aluminium Audi Space Frame construction debuted with the D2 and has remained the A8’s defining structural characteristic. The S8 performance variant has run through most generations. The current D5 represents the most comprehensively engineered A8 to date, with 48V mild hybrid, air suspension, and active road-noise cancellation as standard.

Buying

The A8 is one of the best-value large luxury saloons on the used market, having depreciated substantially from eye-watering new prices. Running costs require honest assessment. The aluminium structure means accident repair is specialist work. The S8 adds performance; a long-wheelbase A8 L adds rear legroom.
