Audi A1 Generation / Variant Price Guides
The Audi A1 is the premium supermini. Audi’s answer to the Mini Cooper, aimed at buyers who want the four-ring badge and the interior quality in the smallest, most affordable package. It has always been positioned above its Volkswagen Polo sibling on materials and perceived quality, and generally delivered on that promise.
The Range
Two generations cover 2010 to the present: the 8X and the GB. Both are based on the VW Group’s A0 platform, the same architecture that underpins the Polo and Seat Ibiza. Three-door and five-door Sportback body styles cover most of the market. The S1 performance variant was available on the first-generation car only. No RS1 was ever produced.
Buying
The A1 is a sound used proposition; well-built, well-equipped, and well-supported. The S1 commands a significant premium as the only performance A1. Avoid the earliest 8X cars if a perfect interior is important as plastics improved noticeably through the production run.
