Audi 80 Generation / Variant Price Guides

The Audi 80 is the car that built the modern Audi brand. It established Audi’s reputation for build quality and technical innovation in the European compact executive class, and in its later B3 and B4 generations it offered the combination of Quattro all-wheel drive, five-cylinder engines, and fastidious build quality that would define the brand’s identity for decades.

The Range

Four generations (B1 through B4) cover 1972 to 1995. The B1 and B2 were conventional front-wheel-drive saloons; the B3 introduced the fully galvanised body that became an Audi hallmark; the B4 was the final evolution before the Audi 80 became the A4 in 1994. The S2 and RS2 performance variants are among the most collectible Audis of the era. The 80 Avant estate, introduced for the B4, is particularly sought-after.

Buying

The B3 and B4 are the most practical classic Audis; galvanised bodies, robust mechanicals, and a parts network supported by the Golf and Passat components they share. The RS2 Avant is a landmark car. The S2 Coupé is the less common but equally desirable sibling.
