Aston Martin V8 Vantage Generation / Variant Price Guides
The V8 Vantage is the sporting peak of whatever generation of Aston Martin you are looking at. The name has meant the same thing across five decades: take the standard car, fit a more powerful engine, add aerodynamic addenda, charge more money, and watch the waiting list form.
A Name With History
The Vantage designation has appeared on Aston Martins since the 1950s DB2/4, originally denoting a high-compression engine option. The standalone V8 Vantage model of 1977 was Aston Martin’s first supercar by name as well as character. Car and Driver tested one at 170mph and called it “Britain’s first supercar”. The Gaydon-era V8 Vantage that arrived in 2005 revived the model as a genuine two-seat sports car for the first time, distinct in character from the larger GT cars in the range. The current generation from 2018 uses a Mercedes-AMG 4.0-litre twin-turbo in a dramatically styled body.
Which Generation
The original Newport Pagnell car is the raw, handbuilt British supercar for collectors who prioritise provenance and character. The Gaydon car balances accessibility with genuine Aston DNA at prices that have come within reach of a broad audience. The modern car is the most sophisticated and the most divisive. Individual guides cover each in detail.
