The Rapide was Aston Martin’s four-door grand tourer. A car designed to prove that the brand could build a practical saloon without compromising its sporting identity. Produced from 2010 to 2020, it used the DB9‘s 5.9-litre V12 in a longer, four-door body.
The Car
The V12 produced 470bhp initially, rising to 552bhp in the Rapide S. The Rapide AMR of 2018 was the ultimate version with 580bhp. Available only as a four-door coupe with a liftback rear. The interior offered genuine four-seat accommodation, though rear legroom was tight for adults. Around 3,500 were built. The DBX SUV effectively replaced the Rapide’s role as Aston’s practical option.
