The DB2/4 evolved the DB2 formula into a more practical grand tourer by adding occasional rear seats and improving the hatchback access. It went through three marks between 1953 and 1957, each refining the concept that would eventually culminate in the DB4.

The Car

The Mk I (1953–1955) used the 2.6-litre twin-cam six from the DB2, later enlarged to 2.9 litres. The Mk II (1955–1957) received a restyled body with more rear headroom. The Mk III (1957–1959) brought disc brakes, a revised grille, and a twin-plug cylinder head for more power. Around 760 DB2/4s were built across all three marks. The Mk III is the most refined and the most valuable, bridging the gap between the W.O. Bentley-era engines and the Tadek Marek straight-six that would power the DB4.
