The Alvis TE 21 was a refined evolution of the TD 21, produced from 1963 to 1967 with a more powerful engine and detail improvements. It was among the last cars Alvis ever built before the company ended passenger car production in 1967.
The Car
The TE 21 used the 3.0-litre six-cylinder tuned to 130bhp with triple SU carburettors — a substantial improvement over the TD 21’s output. The Park Ward bodies carried over with minor refinements. Around 352 were built across saloon and drophead coupe body styles, making the TE 21 rarer than its predecessor. The TF 21 that followed in 1966–1967 was the final Alvis, of which only 106 were made.
Today
The TE 21 is one of the rarest post-war Alvis models and commands premium prices. The triple-carburettor engine is the most powerful standard Alvis road car specification. Alvis support through the Owner Club and Red Triangle remains comprehensive despite the small numbers produced.
