typical price 7 October, 2026
The Alvis Silver Eagle was a refined six-cylinder tourer produced from 1929 to 1937, positioning Alvis in the upper-middle reaches of the British market alongside cars from SS (later Jaguar), Armstrong Siddeley, and Lagonda.
The Car
The Silver Eagle used a 2,148cc (later 2,511cc) overhead-valve six-cylinder engine in various body styles by coachbuilders including Cross and Ellis and Carbodies. It offered more refinement than the sporting Speed 20 without the expense of the largest Alvis models. Various wheelbase options allowed coachbuilders to create everything from compact two-seaters to large saloons.
Today
The Silver Eagle is a practical choice for vintage motoring — well-supported by the Alvis community, usable on modern roads, and offering genuine Alvis quality without the premium attached to the Speed models. The six-cylinder engine is smooth and tractable.
