The Alvis 12/60 was a short-lived but significant model bridging the 1920s 12/50 and the more powerful cars that would define Alvis through the 1930s. Produced from 1930 to 1932, it used an enlarged 1,645cc four-cylinder producing around 60bhp.

The Car

The 12/60 offered more power and refinement than the 12/50 while retaining the sporting character that had made the earlier car popular. Various open and closed body styles were available from coachbuilders. Production numbers were modest around (300 cars) making survivors genuinely rare today.

Today

The 12/60 is rarer than the 12/50 and appeals to collectors seeking a transitional Alvis. The Speed 20 that followed it into production offered a more complete performance package, but the 12/60 has a charm specific to its brief moment in the range. Alvis parts and knowledge are available through the Alvis Owner Club.
