Alpine A290 Price Guide

typical price 7 October, 2026

The Alpine A290 is the brand’s first fully electric car: a hot hatchback based on the Renault 5 E-Tech, reworked at Alpine’s Dieppe factory with chassis stiffening, retuned suspension, and the kind of driving focus that the standard Renault cannot match.

The Car

Launched in 2024, the A290 uses a 52kWh battery powering a single electric motor in two states of tune: 180bhp in standard form and 220bhp in the GTS and GT Performance versions. The chassis features 4mm stiffer front springs and 13mm stiffer rear springs than the Renault 5, along with recalibrated dampers and a lower ride height. The body is stiffened with additional structural bracing. An Alpine-specific torque vectoring system uses individual wheel braking to sharpen turn-in. The GTS adds Sabelt bucket seats and a lap timer. A distinctive triangular rear light signature and specific wheel designs distinguish the A290 from the Renault visually.

Buying

Too new for reliability data, though the underlying Renault 5 platform uses proven Stellantis CMF-BEV architecture. The A290 competes with the Abarth 500e, Mini Cooper SE, and the forthcoming Renault 5 E-Tech in the electric hot hatch space. The 220bhp GTS is the version that justifies the Alpine badge. The A290 is the spiritual successor to the original Alpine A110 Berlinette’s philosophy of lightweight, agile performance — applied to an electric city car rather than a fibreglass-bodied rally weapon. The A610 represented Alpine’s previous approach: rear-engined, V6-powered grand touring.
