Alfa Romeo GTV Generation / Variant Price Guides

The GTV nameplate has served Alfa Romeo across several eras, from the classic 105-series coupes through the Alfetta-based cars of the 1970s and 1980s to the front-wheel-drive 916-series of the 1990s. Each generation delivered its own interpretation of the gran turismo veloce concept.

Alfetta GTV / GTV6 (1974–1987)

The Alfetta GTV used a transaxle layout with the gearbox mounted at the rear for near-perfect weight distribution. The GTV6, powered by Giuseppe Busso’s glorious 2.5-litre V6, is the most sought-after variant and one of the definitive driver’s cars of the 1980s. De Dion rear suspension, limited-slip differential, and that extraordinary engine make the GTV6 a deeply rewarding car to drive quickly.

916 GTV (1995–2006)

The Pininfarina-styled 916 switched to front-wheel drive on a modified Fiat Tipo platform. Available with 2.0 Twin Spark and 3.0/3.2 Busso V6 engines. The V6 cars are now rising in value as the last production Alfas to use Busso’s masterwork. Around 1,000 916-series examples survive in the UK.

The GTV shares its mechanical platform with the Spider in both Alfetta and 916 generations — in each era, the open and closed cars are siblings under the skin.
