The 2000 GT Veloce was the final and most powerful expression of the 105-series Bertone coupe. It took the quad-headlamp styling of the 1750 GTV and added the 1,962cc twin-cam engine with 132bhp, a standard limited-slip differential, and an ornate chrome grille that distinguished it from the cheaper Juniors.

The Car

Produced from 1971 to 1976, the 2000 GTV was the range-topping 105 coupe. The larger engine delivered more torque than the 1750, making the car more relaxed at speed without sacrificing the twin-cam’s willingness to rev. The LSD was a significant addition, transforming the car’s traction and adjustability out of corners. US-market cars received SPICA mechanical fuel injection; European cars retained Weber carburettors.

Buying

The 2000 GTV is highly sought after and commands strong prices. Rust is the overriding concern — the same structural areas as all 105 coupes. The chrome grille distinguishes the 2000 from the 1750 GTV at a glance. The LSD is a desirable feature that earlier cars lack unless retrofitted. Many 2000 GTVs have been heavily modified; decide whether you want originality or a developed road car, as the market values them differently.
