AC Cars Greyhound Price Guide

The AC Greyhound was a four-seat grand tourer based on a lengthened version of the Ace chassis, produced in tiny numbers from 1959 to 1963. It was AC’s attempt to offer a more practical car without abandoning the engineering that made the Ace special.
The Car
The Greyhound used a stretched version of the tubular chassis with the same transverse-leaf independent suspension as the Ace, but in a longer wheelbase accommodating a genuine four-seat body. Engine options mirrored the Ace: AC’s own 2.0-litre six, the Bristol D-Type six, and the Ford Zephyr 2.6. The body was hand-formed aluminium over the familiar steel tube and ash framework. Production numbers were extremely small — estimates suggest fewer than 90 were built, though AC’s records from this period are not entirely complete.
Buying
The Greyhound is a rare collector’s car that lives in the shadow of its more famous siblings. It offers the engineering sophistication of the Ace in a more usable package. Values are substantial but sit below comparable Aces and well below Cobras. Chassis corrosion and ash frame deterioration are the primary concerns.
